Design, Photography: Herbert Matter Documentary at OCAD

An interested audience of 150 people attended the screening of Reto Caduff’s “The Visual Language of Herbert Matter” at OCAD.

The event was a partnership between OCAD Toronto and the Swiss Consulate General. Professor Frederick Burbach from OCAD introduced film director Reto Caduff and led through Q&A.

Captivating Readings and Workshops with Dragica Rajcic

The prestigious Munk School at the University of Toronto hosted a reading by Croatian born and long time Swiss resident, writer and journalist Dragica Rajcic.

In the first part of the event, Dragica read from her recently published books. The following translation workshop tackled the challenges of her unique writing style.

The many participants enjoyed Dragica’s fascinating personality and engaged in a lively discussion.

The day concluded with an Indonesian style dinner at the home of Arie and Emil Wyss from the Swiss Consulate General.

February 3-4, 2012
Next stop on Dragica Rajcic’s tour was the University of Waterloo. Dragica Rajcic fascinated her guests with readings in German, Croatian, and English. Additonally, Dragica Rajcic took part at the all day conference “Draeam of the other Europe: Rethinking Germanistik through the Balkans”.

Colon Cancer Fighting Gene Found

Researchers at Fribourg University have found a gene which is capable of preventing the growth of colon cancers.

The gene is activated by non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and could lead to the development of new prevention measures for colon cancer. It works by forcing malignant tumor cells to become more benign.
